Depending on the weather, sod installation usually runs from mid-April thru the end of November. Starting in in mid-April allows us to install the best quality sod that has been revitalized from winter dormancy. Ending our installation season in November allows the sod time to establish a good root system before winter dormancy starts again. Depending on the weather, some years we are able to install sod well into December.

We generally offer two main types of sod. Bluegrass sod is a blend of several varieties of bluegrass seed. These cultivars (varieties) are specifically chosen for disease resistance, color and growth habits. This helps us provide the highest quality sod for your installation. The other main type of sod we install is Fescue/bluegrass sod. This is a seed mix of 85% turf type fescue and 15% bluegrass. This mix provides the durability of fescue and the regenerative abilities of blue grass. Turf type fescues have finer blades than traditional K-31 fescues. The finer blades help the fescue to blend in with the bluegrass seed in the mixture. This type of mix closely resembles the turf used in many of the City of Omaha soccer fields.

After we have installed the sod, we make sure all sprinkler heads are exposed and working. We also leave watering and care instructions at the site.
